Daryl Lynne's Story
Daryl Lynne, who now prefers to be known as D. Lynne, or just simply, "D.," is originally from Woodmere, NY, and has lived in Suffolk County since 1972. A 1968 graduate of Lawrence High School., D. went on to attend the University at Albany (B.A. in English, 1971), and later enrolled at Stony Brook University, where she received a Master of Social Work degree (1990). She works at Skills Unlimited Mental Health Clinic in Oakdale, NY, and also at Sunrise Counseling Center in East Islip, NY.
One of D.'s favorite quotes is, "If you hold on to the handle, she said, it's easier to maintain the illusion of control. But it's more fun if you just let the wind carry you." -- Brian Andreas. Another is, "Together we can make a difference. The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it."
More about D.: I h...Expand for more
ave been employed as a psychiatric social worker on Long Island since 1990. I have two lovely adult daughters, one single and living in Manhattan, and the other married and living in Brooklyn. I was divorced after a (way too) long marriage, and have been quite happily remarried since 2008. Proud to be a two time breast cancer survivor!
My interests include museums of all kinds, music (especially oldies, folk and classical) and live theater, so I am grateful to have relatively easy access to Manhattan, and visit the city frequently. I was raised to be a supporter of liberal and Jewish causes, and my experiences as an adult have only served to strengthen those convictions. I would just like to add that I believe my classmates and I were truly blessed to have grown up during one of the most dynamic periods in American history.
